Tynemouth Castle Inn is Open for Business

21 February 2024

Looking out over Long Sands beach in Tynemouth, the Tynemouth Castle Inn has been a landmark of the coastal town for over 80 years. With its interior transformation complete, the hotel is now open for business once again.

Previously known as the Park Hotel, the premises was acquired by The Inn Collection Group who instructed Design North to carry out a redesign and refurbishment of 50 bedrooms, a new ice cream parlour and new fish and chip shop.

Design North created a scheme which provides cosy and understated interiors, letting the spectacular views be the focal point of the bedrooms. Oswins Fish and Chips was designed reflecting the brands themes and palette, ensuring continuity across locations. The interior combines traditional dark panelling and rustic brick slips with navy fish-scale tiles and a touch of elegance with eye catching gold grout.

Cones Ice Cream Parlour, which serves up over 20 flavours, has been finished with art-deco interiors to complement the look and feel of the hotel and even offers a unique opportunity of an unlimited topping station.

The interior is cohesive with the Cones brand and every finish carefully chosen, with touches of pink and soft curves within the design. The glossy marble countertop and decorative tin ceiling tiles make an instant impact as customers enter the parlour.

With the work complete, the hotel and food outlets are now open and the scheme was featured in Premier Construction News last month.
