Design North are excited to announce the official reopening of the Wateredge Inn, Ambleside.
Appointed by one of our long-standing clients, the Inn Collection Group, we were tasked with redesigning and refurbishing the existing Grade II listed building and bringing it up to the same standard as other interiors projects. Located on the edge of Lake Windemere, in the heart of the Lake District with its own private jetty, the hotel is set in an idyllic location for holidaymakers and is one of the clients most popular establishments.
As the building is Grade II listed, special care had to be taken when considering the existing structure and character, ensuring the history of the building was respected, whilst creating an inviting and functional interior for the bar, restaurant and 20 guestrooms. Historic elements such as existing beams have been sympathetically retained and enhanced by placing floral wallpaper on the ceilings adjacent, creating beautiful ceiling features. Existing slate floor tiles were kept and complimented by a feature slate herringbone tile, providing a tasteful and sensitive transition from old to new.
We aimed to create a space where guests can relax in the restaurant with a cosy yet decadent feeling, warm colour tones, eclectic lighting and floral velvets helping to achieve this whilst rich bronzes, dark timber and copper bar top bring a sense of luxury.
The project has been a great success, with both client and guests enjoying the stunning new interiors.
