Design North were appointed as Lead Designer to transform the Ripon Inn, a beautiful Edwardian building located in the centre of England’s third-smallest city, Ripon.
The hotel has undergone a multi-million-pound refurbishment and now offers 58 bedrooms, 2 bars and a completely renovated outdoor terrace and lawn.
We drew inspiration from the natural and cultural beauty of The Ripon Inn’s Yorkshire location. The interior concept was aligned with the objective of creating a quintessential Yorkshire experience, and a big part of achieving this was a focus on the historical architecture and features of York- the cobbled streets of the Shambles where the period lampposts light the streets at night and events such as the Ripon races.
In addition to its impressive new look, The Ripon Inn project has furnished the site with a range of spectacular new hospitality facilities.
There’s the new Main Terrace Bar – complete with adjoining rooms overlooking the immaculate surrounding lawns and landscaping – as well as a new Alehouse, an anticipated reopening from locals of the area. Redesigned from a former bar, this feature adds to the overarching Yorkshire experience and offers guests somewhere unique and immersive to enjoy themselves in.
