Acaiety, Jesmond

Design North welcomes in the New Year with the grand opening of a new café and social hub on Acorn Road in Jesmond. Acaiety is a café specialising in açai bowls, smoothies, artisan coffee as well as high-end vintage archive items.  With their extensive experience in both hospitality and high-end fashion, having designed various fashion spaces, Design North were the perfect fit for this project.

Located in the heart of Jesmond, Acaiety resides on a corner plot, opening up Acorn Road with a welcoming spaces that balances contemporary minimalism and natural warmth. Design North have ensured the brand is reflected in the interiors with a clean and simple palette, giving the space both personality and coherence.  The minimalist aesthetic has been enhanced through raw materials such as the concrete effect coffee counter, completed by Stucco Interiors, combined with industrial style clothing rails and cool grey tones.

The internal space has been maximised through bespoke fixed seating in the corner window, offering customers views of the vibrant street outside. Customer experience has led the design decisions, from warm, indirect lighting to create a cosy and welcoming atmosphere, to subtle colour tones and textures for a calming effect on visitors. Muted colours allow the plants and vintage pieces to take centre stage, whilst warm wooden seating provides comfort and reinforces the natural aesthetic and brand identity.
