26-32 Grey Street

Design North have completed another project on the iconic Grey Street in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Located on what was voted one of the ‘greatest streets in England, if not Europe’ by Radio 4 listeners in 2010, Grey Street in Newcastle city centre is a spectacular, historic stretch of the town with many listed and historically significant buildings. Design North had the privilege of working on No. 26-32 Grey Street, a commercial premises.

The studio worked on the restoration and redesign of 1,300sqft of workplace spaces including kitchens and high quality office space and communal stairwells. Exquisite architectural and historic features were retained and restored, with original panelling framing the large windows and intricate coving and ceiling roses creating focal points within each of the rooms. The colour palette was kept calm and neutral, ensuring the historic features took pride of place, whilst also maximising the natural light, creating bright and welcoming spaces.

The building has been restored and refurbished, creating a stunning place for businesses to be located, with contemporary touches to contrast with the historic exterior.
